About Certe
Certe is a healthcare organisation that provides laboratory diagnostics to healthcare providers and patients in the Northern Netherlands.
Consolidating into a new LIS
Due to mergers, Certe was using four different Laboratory Information Systems (LISs), leading to inefficiencies and complex data processing. The aim was to consolidate these systems into one central LIS - GLIMS 10 from supplier Clinisys – to achieve secure data exchange across medical disciplines, provinces and lines of care. This project involved migrating data from GLIMS 8.8, GLIMS 9.6, Labosys and Molis for both clinical chemistry and medical microbiology.
Certe chose Data eXcellence (DX) as its data migration specialist. The project, called CentraLIS, included:
- Development of a migration plan.
- A phased approach with 7 trial migrations and a dress rehearsal.
- A comprehensive control framework for completeness and correctness of data.
DX set up a migration factory that used GLIMS 10 import modules for patient data, blood group and blood bag data, and laboratory results. The approach included:
- A bulk migration prior to going live.
- Delta migrations for current data.
- De-duplication of patient data.
- Testing and monitoring processes with specialist working groups including medical, business and IT users.

Results
The data migration was successful:
- Going live in Friesland on June 1, 2024 and in Groningen/Drenthe on June 22, 2024.
- No data loss and compliance with legal retention periods.
- Up-to-date data from day one in GLIMS 10.
