About Gooise Meren
Gooise Meren is a Dutch municipality in the south east of the province of Noord-Holland, in the Gooi en Vechtstreek region. It was created following the merger of three neighbouring municipalities, Bussum, Naarden and Muiden and it came into effect on 1 January 2016.
Merger of various systems into a single one
For the merger of the municipalities of Bussum, Naarden and Muiden (which resulted in the Municipality of Gooise Meren), the case systems of these municipalities had to be consolidated in a single new case system.
There have been discussions about possible and preferred forms of municipal restructuring within Het Gooi for many decades. The municipalities of Naarden and Bussum, which had grown together completely, formed one of the most obvious reasons. Since 2005, the parties had been talking about merging these two former neighbouring municipalities in Het Gooi and adjacent municipalities from Vechtstreek. On 26 May 2015, the Senate agreed with the legislative proposal.
